IDIOMATIC EXPRESSION

I´ll survive!

Ex.: você se machuca e alguém pergunta: Are you hurted? E você responde: I´ll survive!

SHORT STORY

I got my breakfast this morning. I had: molasse, orange juice, brown bread, cookies, eggs, corn cake, strawberry pie and coffee. The fruits were sweet and juicy.

The sun was shining and my flowers were so beautiful. My cat Nala was crying, because I didn´t feed it soon. I love my cat, but when it starts crying I lock it at laundry room. It´s a large room with plants. There are water, food and a good bed to it.

PRESENT PERFECT

Descreve uma situação que começou no passado e continua acontecendo no presente. Um característica do PRESENT PERFECT é o uso do verbo TO HAVE e o verbo principal no passado.

Ex.:

1. I have got a new car last month. (I´ve got)
(você comprou o carro no mês passado mas ainda o tem)
Got: verbo TO GET

2. I have met Sonia´s daughter, last week. (I´ve met)
(você conheceu a filha da Sonia semana passada, e claro, continua a conhecê-la no presente.)
Met: verbo TO MEET

3. I have started a new training course with Ricardo´s uncle.
(você começou um curso em passado não determinado, o qual ainda está acontecendo)
Started: verbo TO START

4. I have bought Edilene´s father house. It´s a nice old house.
(você comprou uma casa e ainda a possui)
Bought: verbo TO BUY

5. We have been learning English since february.
(começamos a estudar inglês desde fevereiro e ainda estamos estudando)
Been: verbo TO BE
Learning: verbo TO LEARN

6. Did you know Alan Kardec?
R. I have knew him like 20 years ago.
(conheci o Alan Kardec 20 anos atrás, e claro, ainda o conheço.)

Estudar todas as frases e assimilar seus significados, porque serão objeto de pequenos testes bimestrais. Decorar os substantivos:

IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS

Let´s go! We can do this!
(Vamos lá! Nós podemos fazer isto!)

WILL substantivo
Vontade – desejo – arbítrio – determinação - força de vontade

VERBO WILL (querer – desejar – decidir)

We use WILL when we decide to do something at the time of speaking.

(Usamos o WILL quando decidimos fazer alguma coisa, no momento em que estamos falando)

Ex.:

1. What would you like to drink?

I will have a lemonade, please.

(O que você quer beber?

Eu vou tomar uma limonada, por favor.)

2. I´m too tired to walk home. I think I´ll get a taxi.

(Estou cansada demais para caminhar até em casa. Acho que vou tomar um táxi.)

3. I think I´ll stay at home this evening.

(Acho que vou ficar em casa esta noite.)

4. I think I´ll have eggs for breakfast.

(Acho que vou comer ovos no café da manhã.)

5. What hot weather! I think I´ll get a bath now.

(Que tempo quente! Acho que vou tomar um banho agora.)

We also use WILL asking someone to do something.

(Pedindo à alguém para fazer alguma coisa)

1. Will you turn off the light, please?

(Você poderia desligar a luz, por favor?)

2. Will you make our lunch, please?

(Você faria nosso almoço, por favor?)

3. I´m hungry. I think I´ll have a snack.
(estou com fome. Acho que vou fazer um lanchinho.)
